Ok, so I lapsed again and haven’t blogged as consistently as I promised 🙁 BUT, I know you will be so happy when you hear why…I was on a much deserved vacation almost 3 weeks of vacation! I finally returned to my homeland of Guyana in South America (not Ghana in Africa) and I had the best time. If there are enough requests I’ll post some photos of my trip.
Anyway, I digress…selecting your bridal party can be a daunting task, so to help make it easier here are my top 3 tips.
- Choose only those closest to you – this may sound simple, but can get very tricky very quickly. What if you have a sister you don’t get along with or a cousin your mom wants you to invite? I can easily come up with a couple more scenarios that can make things difficult. Before you make this decision think about the following:- 1) who would you call if you have a problem? 2) Who has been by your side when you needed them the most? Once you answer these questions it should make it easier for you to decide.
- Don’t invite someone to be a bridesmaid because they asked you – speaking of tricky situations, girl squads are another difficult situation to navigate, refer to the questions above and only ask if you feel super close.
- You can totally include the opposite sex – I remembered a gorgeous wedding I coordinated at Casa Loma which was featured in Wedding Bells Magazine, the bride had an all male bridal party and it was amazing. I am all for tradition when it makes sense and in this case it did not make sense to include females. Caution – I would refrain from including exes!
BONUS TIP – Since Weddings can be so emotional, you should always approach every situation with kindness, someone may be upset they were not included. That’s ok. There are many other tasks that need to be done on the wedding day that are super important but can be overlooked. This is a great place to include anyone who would like to be a part of your wedding.
